A Gamified Experience For Students: This project revitalises the Founders' Memorial online exhibition for local youth by transforming it into a captivating Kahoot-inspired quiz. This familiar format fosters intuitive interaction, while dynamic leaderboards fuel friendly competition and deeper engagement with historical content. This solution is aligned with trends in implementing active learning and personalised experiences.
Improved Navigation & Usability: User testing revealed a major pain point: Finding the online exhibition on the Founders' Memorial website. To address this, we prioritised discoverability, ensuring accessibility for all students. Additionally, immersive sound effects were incorporated to heighten engagement and create a richer historical experience.
More Visually Appealing: Gone are the days of bland web design. We revamped the exhibition website with a vibrant vintage newspaper theme. Earthy tones evoke nostalgia and timelessness, resonating with our young audience's desire for an engaging, immersive experience. It's history with a fresh twist!
Split Experiences For Students, Teachers, And The Public: One stop, three experiences. Our revamped online exhibition caters to students, teachers, and the public. Students get a focused "Education Experience", as well as interactive elements inspired by their love for competition and multimedia. Teachers get real-time progress tracking, while the public enjoys a richer "Public Experience" with in-depth content optimised for easy reading and understanding.
Service Staging To Simulate A Classroom Experience: Our service staging video simulates a classroom using the revamped Founders' Memorial exhibition. Why service staging? It lets us test our design in action, ensuring it engages both students and teachers. Watch how students can explore, answer gamified quizzes, and learn about the history of Singapore's founding fathers. This innovative approach brings history to life for a new generation.
Project Progression Video: Dive into our journey to make Singapore's history accessible. We started by understanding student needs, then pivoted to create an engaging classroom tool. Usability tests revealed pain points like discoverability and lack of engagement. We gamified the exhibition, prototyping and testing to ensure it works for both students and teachers. Interviewing Youth: Understanding how young Singaporeans learn history was key. We interviewed 6 visitors at "Semangat Yang Baru: Forging A New Singapore Spirit" and this is what we learnt: Talking about national history with friends is not common among youth, and self-discovery helps them on their learning journey. Our revamped exhibition reflects this, as we add interactive experiences that let users explore Singapore's past on their own terms.
Mascot Design: We brainstormed designs relatable to our student audience. We iterated through multiple drafts, aiming to spark their curiosity and motivate them to explore the online exhibition and gamified quiz. The final mascot embodies the spirit of discovery and engagement, ready to guide students on their historical adventure.
Wireframing The Gamified Experience: Our project transformed the online exhibition of the Founders' Memorial into a captivating experience for secondary school students. Informed by user research and iterative design, we crafted a wireframe that prioritises intuitive interaction.

Scope of Work

The objective of this project was to transform the existing Founders' Memorial website into an engaging educational resource tailored for students. The team addressed engagement and learning hurdles by adopting a more interactive approach. Implementing quizzes and integrating multimedia assets, they aimed to make historical content more accessible and compelling for students. Furthermore, the incorporation of youthful visuals was employed strategically to establish a stronger connection with the target audience, ensuring that the redesigned website resonates effectively with younger learners.
